It has been a millwork month at LIDO. Almost all the cabinets and trim have been installed throughout the building. As cabinets go in built-in appliances are being installed. The next steps are to paint the ceilings, lay the floors, paint the walls, and then do the finishing touches. The second floor is almost turn-key complete and the construction team is busy working their way up the building. Move in’s will start from the 3rd floor up!

March was another very busy month at the LIDO site! Last week we hit a huge milestone: we removed the sea can walkway along 10 Street! With the sea cans gone, we can finally scope out the exterior of the building and spy on the main floor commercial space as it develops. Inside, almost all of the drywall has been installed and the kitchens are going in.

Lots has been happening on the LIDO site in the last month! The most noticeable milestone is that almost all of the windows are in. Also, unseen by the passing traffic, we are in the process of finalizing the install of all the steal stud frames and rough-ins, part way into installing drywall, and the cabinetry is beginning to be hung on the 2nd floor.

If you have been by the site recently you may have noticed that the crane has now come down, the windows are installed up to the 7th floor and that brick on the exterior has been completed. On the inside, things are happening quickly. Framing is complete up to the 4th floor and we have even completed drywalling the homes on the 2nd floor.

Rising Up!

It was only in June that the Lido site was still a hole in the ground, slowly rising up to street level.

The construction team remains hard at work, the concrete keeps flowing and Lido continues to rise.  When you walk by you can now see the first level complete with the second taking shape.

Upon completion the first level will be home to a blend of retail shops, restaurants and cafes.  Kensington is buzzing with things to do and places to see, Lido’s shops will add to the vibrancy of this beautiful community we call home.  The second level will host a long stay boutique hotel, allowing its visitors to live the “Lido Life”.

Keep watching as Lido continues to take shape and rise up, up and UP!

After all it was the imagination of Giovanni and Jacqueline Battistella that charted the course for this multi-residential developer whose uniquely timeless designs have led not only to a shift to contemporary architecture in Calgary’s inner-city, but in changing the way we looked at urban living itself.

This great shot allows us step into the role of the crane operator for a look at LIDO's progress from high above. There are many moving parts at this stage of construction but still a heavy focus on pouring concrete. On some days, certain columns require the team to pour up to 40 meters of concrete! In the last few weeks, the construction team has been moving up to ground level, recently completing the structure for the first level of parking. Did you know that this first level of parking will be open to the public and operated by the Calgary Parking Authority? Finally, as you stroll by on 2nd Avenue you should be able to catch a glimpse of the stair walls and elevator cores rising up to LIDO's future lobby. Click read more to see more photos.
