Since the crane went up two months ago, we have enjoyed a bird's eye view of progress at the LIDO Construction Site! As you pass by, it might still look like a giant hole in the ground, but over the last two months, the Battistella construction team has been busy pouring concrete for the three levels of below ground parking. Last week, they poured the last slab to complete the second level of parking. If you look closely, you can see the early structures of the LIDO's two elevators in the centre of the site. Look up, look way up atop the bright red LIDO by Battistella crane and you will spot a billowing Calgary Flames flag proudly flying. The Battistella Team is feeling energized about the Flames' playoff run and we can't wait to keep cheering them on!

Today's the day - the Battistella Construction team has been diligently working on this bright Saturday morning to raise the crane that will bring LIDO by Battistella to life! Stay tuned as construction takes off at the LIDO construction site.

Dig, dig, dig! The LIDO by Battistella construction team has been hard at work over the past few weeks. The cold weather and snow flurries haven't stopped progress. Our Site team has traded in the drill rig for excavators and the digging of LIDO's future parkade is in full swing. Watch out for more more vertical progress as we anticipate the next stage of construction with the arrival of the concrete trucks and the crane coming up next.

The word “lido” has many meanings. In Italian, it can be taken to mean the beach or a way to describe the good life. It is also the title of a Boz Scaggs hit in the 1970s. In Calgary, the name brings back memories of a well-known eatery, but more recently, LIDO is the name of the latest hit from Battistella.

There are rules to this condo shopping game, don’t you know.

Shop the market. Crunch the numbers. Whittle down the list of potential housing candidates by location, price, floor plans, and amenities. Make lists of positives and negatives. Visit the shortened list for a second look. Take another look at the numbers, et al. Maybe even spend a sleepless night or two doing the “should I or shouldn’t I” thing.

That’s the way it’s supposed to go. Right?

So-Mo-Lo is the newest Silicon Valley buzzword; it describes the latest high-tech devices or apps that feature social-mobile-local capabilities. This phrase also very aptly depicts the new Battistella multi-family development of LIDO, here’s why.

Don and Sharon Mulligan, 59 and 53, respectively, have already downsized once, leaving behind a bigger house in the suburbs for a 1,600-square-foot duplex in Hillhurst in 1998.

They’re now set to minimize again. With two grown daughters readying to leave the family home, the couple decided they didn’t need quite so much space. So they purchased a large southwest corner unit in Lido in December.

WHAT THEY BOUGHT:

A two-bedroom apartmentstyle condo with a den, with more than 1,300 square feet and two decks in Lido, the latest project by Battistella Development that will be completed by late 2016. This eight-storey midrise development will be located in the heart of Kensington, on the corner of 10 Street and 2nd Avenue N.W. (the project’s namesake is the Lido Café, a neighbourhood mainstay since 1962).
