A sense of light and airy expansiveness within the context of contemporary design was just what Nicole and Simon Battistella had in mind for their first home together. The relative newlyweds (they have been married for just over two years), had been living in Simon’s penthouse condo in the Beltline’s Chocolate building (a project designed and built by Battistella Developments, Simon’s family business).

The view and location were fantastic, but Nicole wanted to create a home together, a place where they could think about starting a family; a home that was big enough for entertaining and enjoying life.

Lido, which will be on the corner of 10th Street and 2nd Avenue N.W., will be next to its current project, Pixel, in Kensington. In partnership with the Dobbin Group, the ground floor of this mixed-use project will feature boutique-style retail stores and cafes, with executive-style hotel suites on the second floor, says Traci Wilson, Battistella’s sales and marketing manager.

A unique new condo project that combines residential, retail and a boutique hotel will be launched by Battistella Developments in late November in the desirable community of Kensington.

Located at the corner of 2nd Avenue and 10th Street N.W., LIDO by Battistella will be an eight-storey mixed-use building that has perspective buyers so excited, many have registered their interest on the project’s website, says Traci Wilson, director of sales and marketing.

“We’re getting a great response already from people because there is really nothing quite like it being built; it’s a one-of-a-kind building,” Wilson says, who notes LIDO will be a midrise concrete building featuring small retail shops on the main level and – a first for Battistella – a second-floor boutique hotel that can be used by the general public and give residents a convenient place to accommodate overnight guests.
