INSIDE INK: June 2018 Construction Update
The early summer weather has been a welcomed change at INK. On the exterior, the team is busy finishing the rooftop patio and installing patio railings. On the inside progress is on point with the second floor almost done (appliance install and final touches up next) to the fourteenth floor where framing is complete and drywall will be hung shortly.
Read on for a floor-by-floor summary of what else is happening inside INK:
- Parkade – white paint will be rolled on shortly to brighten the parkade.
- Main Floor – Studs are in on the ground floor delineating rooms and hallways.
- 2nd Floor – Almost all appliances are in and this floor is close to finishing touches

Tall ceilings! (He's 6'2) 3rd Floor – Almost all appliances are in and this floor is close to finishing touches
- 4th Floor – Trim is being cut to size and mounted. Appliances are onsite.
- 5th Floor – The flooring has been stained and trim installed. Appliances are onsite.
- 6th Floor – Stain and sealant are being poured finalizing the polished concrete floors.
- 7th Floor – Stain and sealant are being poured finalizing the polished concrete floors.
- 8th Floor – Stain and sealant are being poured finalizing the polished concrete floors.
- 9th Floor –Tile is going up in the bathrooms and kitchen.
- 10th Floor – Cabinets are in and countertops will be placed shortly
- 11th Floor – Boxes of cabinets are on site and are soon to be assembled.
- 12th Floor – Patio railings and glass are being mounted.
- 13th Floor – Drywall has been installed and mudding and taping are in progress.
- 14th Floor – The studs are secured framing out all the rooms. Drywall will be hung next.
- Rooftop – The final touches to the rooftop exterior cladding is in progress. Planting season here we come!

INSIDE INK: April 2018 Construction Update
The giant red construction crane that adorned the south side of INK for the last 11 months was removed in early April. That is one small step the crane company, one giant leap for INK’s progress! The team is now sealing in the exterior where the crane connected to the building and is busy inside every new home.
Read on for a floor-by-floor summary of what else is happening inside INK:
- Parkade – The elevator has arrived and is currently stored in the parkade in “one million” pieces. Assembly of the elevator system will commence shortly.
- Main Floor – Studs are in on the ground floor delineating rooms and hallways.
Concrete floors ready for sealing on 2nd level - 2nd Floor – Cabinets are in and painting is complete. The concrete floors are being cleaned and readied for sealing.
- 3rd Floor – Paint has been sprayed on the trim and walls. Bathroom mirrors are being hung.
- 4th Floor – Sinks are being secured under the countertops in the kitchens and bathrooms.
- 5th Floor – Countertops and backsplash tiles have been installed.
- 6th Floor – Kitchen and bathroom cabinets are complete. Finishing carpentry (ex. door trim) has started.
Finishing millwork being painted on the 3rd floor - 7th Floor – Kitchen and bathroom cabinets are currently being installed. The primer has started being painted on the walls.
- 8th Floor – Mudding and taping have been completed and the walls are being sanded and prepped for next steps. The steel front entry door frames have been secured in every home.
- 9th Floor – Drywall is hung and the team is busy mudding and taping.
- 10th Floor – Rough-ins are done and next step is drywall.
Light kitchen package on the 6th floor - 11th Floor – Electrical rough-ins and clean up is occurring. Party wall systems (between units) have been completed and drywall coming shortly.
- 12th Floor – Framing is complete and electrical rough-ins are in progress.
- 13th Floor – Pipes have been insulated. Snap lines are drawn on the floor where steel stud framing will be placed shortly.
- 14th Floor – Finishing the final wall of window installation.
- Rooftop – High-efficiency hot water tanks and boilers are in the mechanical room on the roof. The patio stones are being laid and soil is ready in the planters.
Wrapping INK up for the Holidays!
A huge milestone moment is occurring at INK!
Windows were delivered last week and the team has officially begun installing them. Check out this picture of floor two on the north side. ‘Orange’ you glad for the close-up view?
Windows are an important milestone (especially in the winter) because once the exterior is sealed the floor can be heated! That means the team can begin steel stud framing the units without freezing their fingers.
Moving on up the building, rebar is currently being loaded up on the 12th floor in preparation to pour concrete. That means there are only two floors and a roof next to go!
